TCSO deputy shoots, kills man in eastern Travis County

EAST TRAVIS COUNTY (KXAN) – The Travis County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday evening they were on the scene of an officer-involved shooting on Hog ​​Eye Road.

TCSO said deputies responded to 9301 Hog Eye Road at 9:36 p.m. after a 911 call requesting a welfare check. Upon arrival, TCSO said they encountered a man who was “behaving erratically.”

KXAN’s Nabil Remadna was at the scene Wednesday evening and said it was in the Mobile Loaves & Fishes community on Hog ​​Eye Road, just east of Austin.

TCSO said that while deputies attempted to deescalate the situation, the man “presented a weapon,” and a deputy fired his weapon and shot the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Texas Rangers are investigating the shooting, and the TCSO Criminal Investigation Division and Internal Affairs Unit are also conducting parallel investigations.

TCSO said it would not release further information regarding the investigation.

The deputy is placed on administrative mission while the investigation continues.
