She continued: “Even though I was incredibly lucky to make these films with both the master of horror Wes Craven and the wonderfully talented team of Matt and Tyler, I dreamed for many years of how amazing would it be to make one of these films with (creator) Kevin Williamson at the bar. And now it’s happening. Kevin Williamson to direct Scream 7! It was her baby and it was her brilliant mind that imagined this world. Kevin is not only an inspiration as an artist, but he has also been a dear friend for many years. To the amazing Scream fans, I hope you are as excited as I am. See you on set @kevwilliamson.

James Vanderbilt said Variety. “The story of sisters Sam and Tara was always what we wanted to bring to the forefront of all of this. We love Neve and think she is amazing and had a great experience with her (Scream) 5. She has to do what she has to do as a businesswoman and we fully support her.

Director Tyler Gillette added, “I think what ultimately happened was we knew that in the absence of that character, we really needed to dig deeper into the main four and make those relationships really emotionally important. The goal was to try to connect these characters with the audience in the same way we connected with Gale and Dewey and Sid. Ultimately, it’s just about having the time and real estate in your story to really dig deep. But no, it wasn’t a hugely dramatic pivot.

Neve hasn’t ruled out bringing Sidney back into the fold. ‘I don’t know if I’m done for good,’ says actress PEOPLE in August 2022. “It would really depend on what they offer me next. It would have to be different. We need to adopt a different attitude, and I’m not sure that will happen.”

The actress continued, “If they offered me an act that felt right, that felt respectful, that matched the value that I brought to the franchise, I would be willing to consider (coming back in the future).” I don’t believe he died in the water, but we’ll see. But honestly, I’m doing really well. I was able to let it go. I wish them good luck. I’m doing three different shows at the moment. I’m very, very grateful to be working. I am happy. So, it’s all right.
