Oppenheimer director Christopher Nolan and his wife Emma Thomas will receive knighthoods and damehoods.

Oscar-winning director Christopher Nolan will receive a knighthood, according to documents released by the government.

His wife, film producer Emma Thomas, will become a lady.

British filmmaker Nolan won the Oscar for best director this month for his biopic Oppenheimer, which also won best picture and swept awards season.

He had already been nominated for six Academy Awards.

Nolan, who also directed the Dark Knight trilogy, met his wife while he was a student at University College London (UCL).

The couple, who have four children, co-founded and run a production company, Syncopy, which is behind several of their blockbusters.

Nolan has explained in the past that his wife “always saw things the same way I did in terms of the importance of the medium.”
