(KRON) — A longtime specialty sporting goods store in Oakland is closing its doors after four decades. Transports is permanently closing its doors after opening 42 years ago, the company announced on its website.

Since 1982, the local store has served the East Bay running and swimming community. It mainly sells running and swimming clothing and shoes.

“After 42 years of serving the running and swimming community, TRANSPORTS will be closing its doors in the coming months,” reads the Transports website. “The East Bay has carried us through fires, earthquakes, recessions and a global pandemic and we cannot thank you enough for your loyalty over the years. We are so grateful for the opportunity to serve you all – we would not have survived without your support! »

Transportation is located at 6014 College Ave. It is three blocks from the Rockridge BART station.

The company has been 100% women-owned since 2018, according to the Transportation website. Transports previously opened a store in Berkeley at 1559 Solano Ave.

We do not know when the last day of opening of Transport will take place.
