Microsoft’s next Surface laptops would be its first true “AI PCs”

Microsoft is preparing to upgrade its Surface line with new AI-powered features, according to a report from Windows Central. Anonymous sources told the outlet that the upcoming Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 will come with a next-generation neural processing unit (NPU), as well as Intel and Arm-based options.

Microsoft’s Arm-based devices will be powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon Windows Central reports. These PCs, called CADMUS, would be designed to run AI features that Microsoft is integrating into a future version of Windows. They will also bring improvements in performance, battery life and security comparable to Apple silicon, according to Windows Central. Meanwhile, the Intel version of the devices is said to feature the company’s latest 14th generation chips.

Microsoft is expected to launch the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 next year. But a bigger design change for the Surface Pro could be planned for 2025, Windows Central reports, as well as a new, refreshed Surface Laptop Studio.
