Flash flood warning issued for parts of San Diego County

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for parts of San Diego County Saturday morning.

San Diego, Chula Vista, National City, Escondido, Poway and other areas are under alert until 11:30 a.m. The weather service said radar shows these areas could receive between 0.5 and 0.8 inches of rain in about an hour.

“A flash flood is a sudden, violent flood that can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours to develop,” the weather service explained.

It is suggested that if you find yourself in a flood-prone area, move to higher ground immediately. The weather service also suggested avoiding walking and driving through floodwaters.
