Bastrop Police: Man found ‘unconscious’ after saving son from water at Fisherman’s Park

BASTROP, Texas (KXAN) — A man died Friday while saving his son from water at Fisherman’s Park, Bastrop police announced on social media.

On Friday around 4 p.m., BPD officers went to the park after a report of an “unresponsive man in the water.”

Police said the man’s son was “struggling in the water,” and then jumped in to save him. Police said the son was rescued, but the man was later pronounced dead.

The man was not identified by police Friday because next of kin has been notified, according to BPD.

The incident remained under investigation Friday.
