HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A downtown Houston thoroughfare that Astros fans of all ages cross on their way to Minute Maid Park became a crime scene Friday night.

According to the Houston Police Department, officers were reported to a shooting at 6:22 p.m. in the 1500 block of Capitol Street, near Crawford. Police activity began to unfold more than 45 minutes before the first pitch of the Astros-Yankees game.

Police found a victim who had been shot several times. They added that the victim was rushed to the hospital and may have been shot elsewhere.

HPD later explained that a good Samaritan passing through Rothwell and Elysian found the victim and went near the stadium to get help. The police began questioning the good Samaritan.

An HPD sergeant at the scene told an ABC13 photojournalist that it may have been one of three connected scenes, but the other locations have not yet been confirmed.

An Eyewitness News crew captured the active scene where officers were focusing on a dark brown sedan with blood visible inside its doors.
